Council of Europe organizes workshop on media support in the South Caucasus

Strasburg â€“ APA. The Council of Europe organized two-day workshop at the European Youth Center in Strasburg on the media support in the South Caucasian countries, APA European bureau reports. The project funded by the European Union is carried out by the Media Department of the Council of Europe Directorate for Human Rights and Legal Affairs. Representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations for media and journalists from three South Caucasian countries â€“ Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia - as well as international media experts are attending the workshop. They focused attention on the evaluation of media projects carried out, as well as prospects of future projects. The participants expected to make recommendations and to discuss the Council of Europe standards, activity of the Media Department of the Council of Europe Directorate for Human Rights and Legal Affairs in the South Caucasus, international and regional achievements, problems, regional cooperation and assistance of the Council of Europe in this field. Azerbaijani delegation - chief of the Public Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, chairman of National Broadcasting Council Nushiravan Maharramli, chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov, Chairman of â€œNew Generationâ€ Journalists Union Arif Aliyev, editor-in-chief of Zerkalo newspaper Elchin Shikhli and others are attending the workshop.
