Conference on the theme â€œRegulation of Internet media in Azerbaijanâ€ takes place

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. National Television and Radio Council and the Council of Europe organized a conference on the theme â€œRegulation of Internet media in Azerbaijanâ€, APA reports. Chief of socio-political department of Presidentâ€™s Administration Ali Hasanov said Internet has no boundaries.
â€œHow will its end be? Problems caused by the Internet have begun to worry the countries. I think Internet should be regulated,â€ he said.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov said activities were carried out for the development of information and communication technologies in the country.
â€œOver 2000km optic cable has already been constructed in the country. Measures are being taken to provide high-speed Internet. There is an opportunity to use Internet in the car in Azerbaijan. This should be continued,â€ he said.

Director General of APA Information Vusala Mahirgizi said Azerbaijanâ€™s Internet media is not prepared for acts of God. She said Internet media in Azerbaijan suffers technical problems, shortage of personnel, plagiarism, selection of domain, high prices and other problems.
â€œThe parliament accredits monthly newspapers, but does not accredit Internet portals. A separate structure should be established in connection with Internet media. Fund of State Support for the Development of Media has been established in the country. Should the fund allocate funds for the Internet media? Is Internet media considered mass media, or not? These issues should be clarified,â€ she said.

Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli underlined the necessity of regulation and some control over the Internet.
â€œThis control should not be considered a problem in the normal society. I see Internet as a technical means. This is not a separate media, but a sphere of activity,â€ he said.

Head of Azerbaijan Internet Forum Osman Gunduz said 10-15 popular news portals controlled the entire internet news space. He considers that the problem of Internet media is directly connected with the quality of Internet in the country.
â€œPrices should be reduced, personnel problems solved, state program adopted on the development of media,â€ he said.
