Press Council has 7 new members

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. The Management Board of Azerbaijani Press Council has today held a meeting, APA reports. The Management Board considered the applications presented for the membership of the Press Council. Following the discussions, Ses Information Agency, Fineko Analytical and Information Agency, newspapers Olke, Fitbol dunyasi, Butov Azerbayjan, Ismayilli kheberleri and Goyazan newspaper of Gazakh were admitted to the Press Council. The newspaper Gerb kheberleri (Shamkir) was expelled from the Press Council as it violated the requirements of the councilâ€™s regulations and failed to answer questionnaires. The Management Board ordered the councilâ€™s commission combating â€œracketeering journalismâ€ to make additional investigations on the publication and submit the results.

Eight decisions were passed basing on the opinions of the councilâ€™s commission for complaints. The Management Board also reviewed the list submitted by the commission combating â€œracketeering journalismâ€ and determined the new black list of the Press Council. The document was confirmed and the councilâ€™s secretariat was given instructions to inform the public about it.

The Management Board Commission for Complaints confirmed its opinion on declaring 19 more newspapers as â€œracketâ€ ones for regularly violating the professional ethics of the journalists, giving no attention to the opinion of criticized people, staying indifferent to the principle of personal privacy and humiliating the peopleâ€™s honor and dignity.
