Sadigov said that those inmates demanded privileges, which are contrary to the legislation and internal disciplinary rules: “The staff explained the inmates that their demands are groundless and urged them to obey the rules of discipline. Three inmates, who disobeyed, were placed in the punitive isolation ward.
Sadigov said the reports on riot and tension in the prison are groundless: “These are groundless reports. Press sometimes exaggerates news. Our staff listened to the demands of the prisoners, urged them to follow the discipline. Furthermore, special-task forces and vehicles of the Penitentiary Service were deployed outside the prison. There was no need for their intervention.”
Chief of the Service noted that such cases would be always prevented by the Penitentiary Service: “We are fighting and will always fight against such illegal acts. Currently, the investigation is underway on the fact. I want to note that those inmates are close to the criminal world.”
