Some forces, as well as the so-called "independent investigator" are longing to shape wrong public opinions to hamper a complete, comprehensive and objective process of the investigation and use it for their own ambitions and interests,” Chief of the Center for Public Relations of the National Security Ministry Arif Babayev said answering the questions of APA on the arrest of Parviz Hashimli, correspondent of the Bizim yol newspaper and director of moderator.az.
Babayev also touched on reports of some media and non-government organizations relating the arrest of Parviz Hashimli with his journalistic activities: “Certain forces have their own purposes in the non-objective presentation of this issue. They are trying to create wrong opinion about this criminal case deliberately. Parviz Hashimli and Tavakkul Gurbanov were sentenced to the imprisonment on charge of smuggling firearms from Iran to Azerbaijan. The arrest of Parviz Hashimli has nothing to do with his journalistic activities. Generally, national security agencies charge no one for his/her political views, beliefs, or journalistic activities. Therefore, such deliberately made reports are groundless and not based on reality.”
