96 people killed, 250 injured this year in emergency accidents in Azerbaijan

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has announced the statistics of natural and anthropogenic accidents that occurred in the country during the first half of 2015.

Over the given period, 20 explosions overall have hit the country, which is a 5 percent increase or one accident more compared to the past year’s same period. The explosion killed 5 people and injured 20 others, the MES told APA.

The ministry has sent firefighting teams a total of 5,488 times to tackle the fires upon the requests made during the reporting period. The fires killed 43 people and left another 105 injured. The fatalities are 39 percent or 12 people more compared to the past period and the injured are 75 percent or 45 people more in comparison.

During the first half of this year, a total of 5,581 natural and anthropogenic accidents have occurred in the country – 15 percent of 736 accidents more as compared to the same period of last year.

48 people were killed and 125 others injured in the natural and anthropogenic accidents.

The ministry’s rescuers saved the lives of 76 people and evacuated 517 others.
