The trial has begun in the criminal case against bloggers Tural Sadigli, Elshad Mammadov, Qurban Mammadov, and Suleyman Suleymanli, who reside abroad, APA reports.
A preparatory hearing was held today at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Vugar Guliyev.
Personal information was verified during the proceedings.
The preparatory hearing will continue on October 24.
Note that the accused are charged under Articles 178.3.1 (fraud, if committed by an organized group), 214-2 (open calls for terrorism), 220.2 (mass riots, calls for active disobedience to lawful demands of a government representative and calls for mass riots, as well as violence against citizens), 281.2 (armed rebellion, if the same actions committed repeatedly or by a group of persons), and 320.1 (forgery of an official document) of the Criminal Code. Since they are abroad, a pre-trial detention measure in absentia has been imposed on them by court decision.
