State Border Service: 21 people detained for violating state border last month

The State Border Service (SBS) successfully implemented measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration and illegal trafficking of narcotics in October 2025, SBS told APA.

It was reported that 21 people were detained for violating the state border last month. 5 of them were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Algeria, 3 of Pakistan, 2 of Afghanistan, 2 of Morocco, 2 of Ukraine, 1 of Iran, 1 of Türkiye, 1 of Senegal, and 1 of Syria.

As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 9 people were detained who attempted to cross the state border with a forged date stamp and passport, or a document belonging to someone else.

757 people were detained for violating the border regime rules and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As a result of measures to combat crime, 329 people wanted by law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, 511 people banned from leaving the country were prevented from leaving, and 48 people banned from entering were prevented from entering the country.

As a result of measures to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, 489 kilograms 871 grams of narcotics and 4,689 pills containing narcotics, which are considered to be powerful drugs, were detected and removed from circulation.

As a result of measures to combat smuggling activities, contraband worth a total of 8 million 164 thousand 905 manats was discovered and seized, including 6 rifle cartridges, 9 pistol shells, Russian Federation currency, pyrotechnics, medicines, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
