Next hearing set for bloggers charged with fraud, terrorism, and armed rebellion

The next hearing in the criminal case against bloggers Tural Sadigli, Elshad Mammadov, Gurban Mammadov, and Suleyman Suleymanli, who live abroad, has been held, APA reports.

At the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Huseyn Huseynli, the trial was held behind closed doors, and the announcement of the indictment has begun.

According to the information, three more individuals—Ordukhan Teymurkhan (Babirov), Orkhan Aghayev, and Rafael Piriyev—are also charged in this case.

The next hearing has been scheduled for December 5.

Note that the accused are charged under Articles 178.3.1 (fraud committed by an organized group), 214-2 (open calls for terrorism), 220.2 (mass riots; calls to actively disobey lawful orders of authorities and commit violence against citizens during mass riots), 281.2 (armed rebellion; same acts committed repeatedly or by a group), and 320.1 (forgery of official documents) of the Criminal Code.

Since they are abroad, the court has imposed pre-trial detention in absentia for them.
