Ganimat Zahidov has been summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office, APA reports.
An official statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the matter was broadcast on Ictimai Television.
It was stated that he is being summoned to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office on November 24 to review the indictment related to the completed preliminary investigation in the criminal case initiated against him.
He has been informed of his right to come with a defense lawyer of his choice and of his other rights. It was noted that full conditions will be provided at the department for him to familiarize himself with the indictment.
According to the information, a decision has been made to charge Ganimat Zayidov under Article 281.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls directed against the state, repeated or committed by a group of persons).
It was also stated that the Sabail District Court has issued a decision to apply a four-month pre-trial detention measure in absentia against him.
According to the charges, on July 4 and July 18, 2018, Ganimat Zayidov disseminated open calls on the YouTube platform encouraging the use of force against the existing government of Azerbaijan, which was formed and operates on legal grounds.
