A large quantity of narcotic drugs has been prevented from being smuggled into the country, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border, as well as to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, are being successfully continued.
In the service area of the “Goytapa” border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service, the attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan has been prevented.
As a result of the conducted border search and operational measures, on October 24, a total of 15 kilograms 705 grams of narcotic substances (12 kg 460 g of marijuana, 3 kg 245 g of opium), and on October 26, a total of 49 kilograms 60 grams of narcotic substances (46 kg 45 g of marijuana, 3 kg 15 g of heroin) and 550 narcotic-containing methadone M-40 tablets were detected and seized.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the cases are ongoing.
