Ensuring the reliable protection of the state border and combating the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors continues successfully, APA reports, citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops, an attempt to smuggle 17 kilograms 235 grams of narcotic substances (14 kg 85 g of marijuana, 3 kg 120 g of methamphetamine, 30 g of opium) and 500 units of the drug-containing pill Metadon M-40 from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was prevented.
As a result of the border search and operational measures carried out, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azer Maharram oglu Orujov, born in 1987, was detained as a suspect.
During the initial interrogation, the detained person admitted that he had come to that area with the intention of picking up the narcotic substance.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the fact are ongoing.
