In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops, an attempt to smuggle 17 kilograms 235 grams of narcotic substances (14 kg 85 g of marijuana, 3 kg 120 g of methamphetamine, 30 g of opium) and 500 units of the drug-containing pill Metadon M-40 from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was prevented.
As a result of the border search and operational measures carried out, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azer Maharram oglu Orujov, born in 1987, was detained as a suspect.
During the initial interrogation, the detained person admitted that he had come to that area with the intention of picking up the narcotic substance.
