During 2019 and 2024, within the framework of Azerbaijan’s law enforcement agencies’ fight against the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, 47,863 cases were detected, APA reports.
This was stated at the 16th meeting of heads of national authorities for ensuring compliance with drug laws, held in Vienna from October 28 to 31.
It was reported that, in addition, during the mentioned period, 33.5 tons of various types of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors were prevented from illegal circulation, and a total of 39,002 people, including 510 foreigners, were held criminally responsible.
According to official statistics, in the last two years, 10 attempts of drug trafficking from neighboring countries through Azerbaijan were recorded, resulting in the seizure of 600 kilograms of narcotic drugs.
