The second-stage examination of judges-to-be was held today, APA reports.
302 candidates gained over 60 points participated in the first stage. More than 30 representatives composed of international organizations, NGOs and right defense organizations invigilated the examinations. The Court-Law Council held a meeting with the participation of Justice Minister Fikret Mammedov before the examination and determined to prepare 8 case-like questions. The Judges Election Commission prepared 8 questions on crime, crime procedure, civil and civil process during a 2-hour close meeting. 2 questions among them were selected at random with the participation of two observers. Answering reporters’ questions the Commission chief Iman Nagiyev stated that during the four-hour examination the candidates are to define the essence of the question and content of the law, to settle cases and to demonstrate the ability to express conception of the law. He noted that the answers will be double-processed that is the Commission members and invited experts.
“That’s why the process can take a month or more. The answers will be appraised by 60 points and over. The candidate gaining the required score will pass to the next stage�, he said.
Iman Nagiyev said that dissatisfied candidates can appeal to the Court-Law Council. The appeals will be considered with their participation. Most of the candidates are justice body officers and lawyers.
Over 700 applicants had taken an examination on October this year. /APA/
