Misir Mardanov meets with OSCE officials

Education Minster Misir Mardanov met with the delegation led by Director of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Christian Strohal and the head of OSCE Office in Baku Maurizio Pavesi, Education Ministry Press Service told the APA. Filling in the questionnaire on campaigning for mutual respect and understanding in education, addressed to organization member states by OSCE/ODIHR Program on Tolerance and Non-Discrimination Misir Mardanov presented it to the OSCE.
The programs on teaching tolerance and mutual respect in secondary schools have been carried out within the framework of cooperation with UNICEF, UNESCO, Open Society Institute, American Bar Association (ABA CELLI), International Red Cross Committee and Norwegian Refugee Council. OSCE/ODIHR proposed the projects “Training and education in the sphere of human rights� and “Campaigning for mutual respect and diversity by education�. Touching upon the violation of human rights concerning Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov said that as a result of this aggression 616 schools, 234 infant schools, 12 special technical schools, 35 nonschool institutions, 5 secondary training schools, 1 high school branch, 2 high school faculties, 3 branches of secondary training schools, generally 1000 education institutions were destroyed. As a result of it, 130 Azerbaijani pupils and students as well as 20 000 education officers became refugees, their rights were violated.
Christian Strohal was satisfied with the events on teaching human rights realized in the secondary schools of Azerbaijan, the publication of text-books and the cooperation with a number of international organizations. /APA/
