Right defenders appeal to president to pardon group of sick prisoners

Right Defenders Monitoring Group appealed to Azerbaijani President to pardon a group of sick prisoners, a member of the group, the chief of Democracy and Human Rights Committee Chingiz Ganizade told the APA. He said that the names of a group of prisoners were included to the list. The Right Defenders asked to forgive the members of riot police Sekhavet Humbetov and Akif Huseynov, national hero Rasim Akberov, former chief of Ganja Police Department, one of the activist of ADP Natig Efendiyev, the member of Yeni Fikir Youth Movement Said Nuri, the member of APFP Arif Aliyev because of their weak health. Saying that Akberov’s health is very bad, Ganizade added that he hopes that he will be pardoned. Nuri had to go foreign countries for treatment and it causes serious problems each time when he addresses for allowance. Detention Ward I told the APA that Humbetov himself appealed to the president for pardon and his documents were taken to the President’s Administration. /APA/
