Russia undertakes commitments to return Gadji Chankayev back to Azerbaijan

Dagestan Court sentenced Gadji Chankayev 5 years 6 months in jail, General Prosecutor’s Office press service chief Vugar Aliyev told the APA. Aliyev said that Russia undertook commitments about returning Chankayev back to Azerbaijan.
“Gadji Chankayev will be returned to Russia, only after he serves his punishment in Azerbaijan. It is unknown whether he will be returned till the court to be on December 19,� he said.
It should be noted that, Chankayev was sentenced to 7 years in jail by the decision of Azerbaijan Court of Grievous Crimes. He was extradited to Russia after Russia Prosecutor General’s appeal, the group composed of Azerbaijani, Russia, Turkish and Yemen citizens including Chankayev were the members of Al-Gaeda and have been trained in Pankisi, Georgia territory. The group members are accused of carrying illegal guns, committing terrors and murdering the officer of Nasimi Police Department Movlan Alibeyov and some other criminal cases. Supreme Court presided by Judge Muzeffer Agazadeh will consider the appeal on the decision of the court. Russia law enforcement bodies accused Chankayev of terror resulted with the death of people in 2002, but then he was accused of carrying illegal gun. /APA/
