Four of them were feltâ€, Director of Seismological and Geodynamics department of the Republican Seismological Service Center Tahir Mammadli told APA. According to him, the aftershocks are continuing now, but the process is weakening.
Mammadli said that the southern slope of the Great Caucasus, including Zagatala region is seismically active zone: “There are large active deep faults. The weak seismic shocks are always recorded here. According to Gutenberg Richter Law, probability of recurrences of strong quake is higher. It was expected, because one of the epicenters is located here. The last strong quake (7-magnitude) was recorded in that region in 1936â€.
Director General of the Republic Seismological Service Center Gurban Yetirmishli has left for the quake area.
