Azerbaijani General Prosecutorâ€™s Office confirms arrest of head physician and chairman of medical expert commission in Baku

Spokesperson for the organization Eldar Sultanov told APA that the Department to Combat Corruption under the Prosecutor General investigated the corruption facts.

According to him, the office investigated the operational information received by the prosecutorâ€™s office on illegal acts of the head physician of the United City Hospital â„–14 of Health Ministryâ€™s Baku Main Health Office and chairman of Medical Social Expert Commission â„–9 of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection: â€œIt was revealed that head physician of United City Hospital â„–14 demanded bribe from Baku city resident for giving a notice to the Medical Social Expert Commission and chairman of Medical Social Expert Commission â„–9 demanded a bribe from the resident for appointing the degree of disabilityâ€.

The operational investigative group was immediately created for it and head physician of United City Hospital â„–14 Oktay Salamov was detained as a result of operational investigative measures taken on May 3. He was caught red-handed during taking AZN 3000 as a bribe from Baku city resident for giving a notice â„–88 to the Medical Social Expert Commission in the service room of the hospitalâ€™s administrative building situated in Buzovna settlement.

As a result of another investigatuive measures, chairman of the 9th Mediacal-Social Expert Commission Khudaverdiyev Bayram Raful was detained red-handed while taking bribe in amount of AZN 3000 from a resident of Baku in his office, the commissionâ€™s administrative building in Mardakan.

AZN 3000 and the note book with the name of the citizen were found in the Oktay Salamovâ€™s office. AZN 3000 and the note book with the name of the citizen, as well as his ID-card and certificate of domicile were found in the Khudaverdiyevâ€™s office.

The criminal investigation was launched under the article 311.1 (bribery taking) of the Criminal Code. Salamov and Khudaverdiyev were detained as the suspects.

The investigative measures are continued to identify other participants of this crime.
