Baku-APA. Last year, 2636 drug trafficking facts including 817 facts of illegal drug sale were revealed and 50 criminal groups of 131 people were disposed, said Major-General Hazi Aslanov, head of the Main Drug Enforcement Department of the Interior Ministry, press service of the ministry told APA.
According to him, as a result of operational-search activities, 557 kg of drugs, including 164.8 kg of hashish, 52.2 kg of heroin, 14 kg of opium, 298.8 kg of marijuana, 27 kg of other illegal drugs were seized and 28.6 kg of drugs prevented to import into the country through smuggling, 366 tons and 777 kg of narcotic plants in a green mass were destroyed.
53.9 kg of various drugs were seized from foreign citizens of 22 countries. In connection with the sale of large quantities of drugs 392 offense cases were opened, 295 people, including 3 foreigners brought to justice.
