Violence used against journalists during demolition of illegal houses in Sulutepe

APA reports quoting the local residents that SOCAR employees have today demolished the illegal houses in Sulutepe built in the territory owned by the company.

Clash occurred between the residents, whose houses were demolished, and the SOCAR employees. The residents protested against it and attempted to block Baku-Shamakhy highway. But the police prevented it.

Journalist Idrak Abbasov and correspondent of the Yeni Musavat newspaper Gunay Musayeva were injured. Idrak Abbasov was taken to Clinic Medical Center.

The Clinic Medical Center told APA that Idrak Abbasov was hospitalized with brain injury. He was taken to the resuscitation department.

SOCAR’s press service has not issued a statement about it.

Binagadi district police office told APA that clash occurred between the local residents and the SOCAR employees during the demolition of the houses, the residents attempted to block Baku-Shamakhy highway, but the police prevented it.
