One more official detained on corruption charges in Azerbaijan

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. The deputy director of Balaken regional Center of Labor and Social Protection of Population was arrested during bribe taking. APA reports quoting the website of General Prosecutorâ€™s Office that a resident of Balaken region called to the Department to Combat Corruption under General Prosecutorâ€™s Office via hotline 161 and complained about illegal actions by the deputy director of Balaken regional Center of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population Aliyev Afgan Tahir. The investigators identified that Afgan Aliyev demanded AZN 400 bribe from Balaken regionâ€™s resident, who applied for social aid. He received AZN 200 from that resident and continued his criminal action. He was arrested while receiving the rest of amount he demanded from the resident as a bribe. The list of plastic cards and other documents were found during searching his cabinet.

The criminal investigation has been launched into the fact in accordance with Criminal Codeâ€™s article â„–311.1 (bribe taking). He was sent to pretrial detention.

The investigation is underway.
