Azerbaijan State Border Service issues statement on Wahhabi detained at Yalama border checkpoint while attempting to cross border

The State Border Service told APA that Khachmaz region resident Suleymanov Faig Suleyman, 31, wanted by the Ministry of National Security, was detained by the officers of the State Border Service at Yalama border checkpoint while attempting to leave the country.

Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of National Security carried out an operation in Khachmaz. Law enforcers of the region also participated in the operation.

Two supposed to be the members of the radical Wahhabi sect were detained as a result of the operations. One of them Faig Suleymanov was detained at Yalama border checkpoint while leaving Azerbaijan. The other detainee is Shahin Talibov.

Weapons and illegal religious books were seized from the houses of the abovementioned persons.

This is the continuation of the special operation carried out by the Ministry of National Security in Gandja and several regions some days ago.
