Azerbaijanâ€™s National Security Ministry carries out operation in Khachmaz

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of National Security carried out an operation in Khachmaz. APA reports that law enforcers of the region also participated in the operation.

Two supposed to be the members of the radical Wahhabi sect were detained as a result of the operations. One of them Faig Suleymanov was detained at Yalama border checkpoint while leaving Azerbaijan. The other detainee is Shahin Talibov.

Weapons and illegal religious books were seized from the houses of the abovementioned persons.

APA has obtained information that this is the continuation of the special operation carried out by the Ministry of National Security in Gandja and several regions. The Ministry of National Security carried out operations and detained 17 members of the armed group that planned to commit provocative acts and terrorist attacks with the view of violating socio-political stability and raise panic. 4 AKM assault rifles, 1 RPK machine gun, 2 Makarov pistols, 1 Nagan pistol, 1 Stechkin pistol, 2 Karabin rifle, cartridge clip with 6 bullets, 300 various cartridges, 31 hand grenades, 15 remote controlled explosives, 3 detonators, 3 cartridge clips for assault rifle, 30 Kenwood communication device, 3 knife bayonets, books promoting terrorism and jihad, a great deal of banned military supplies were found as a result of the special operations carried out in Baku, Gandja, Sumgayit cities, Gakh, Zagatala, Shaki and Gusar regions.

The members of the â€œGartalâ€ special force of the Ministry of National Security met armed resistance during the operation carried out in Gandja. The persons, who refused to obey the legal demand, fired at the special forces, threw hand grenades. One officer of the Ministry of National Security was killed, 3 were wounded. One of the persons, who showed armed resistance to the government representatives, was killed, one wounded, two members of the group were detained.

The gunman, who was rendered harmless during the operation in Gandja, is the resident of Ashagi Tala village of Zagatala Vugar Ismikhan Padarov. Vugar Padarovâ€™s brother Mehdi Padarov was detained in the operation carried out by the Ministry of National Security in Zagatala.
