Press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told APA that as a result of operational measures taken by the ministry’s office for combating drug trafficking, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Shamsali Dustar, 34 and Davud Noori, 32 were detained while trespassing and smuggling a great amount of narcotic drug to Azerbaijan on April 9. 10 kg hashish and a cold gun were found near them. Both Dustar and Noori admitted that they had to give drugs to the persons sent by an Iranian organizer of the crime, whose name is still unknown, in Bilasuvar region and to receive USD 10 000 from them.
The criminal investigation was launched and both detainees are interrogated.
The operational searches are being continued for detention of other members of the transnational organized criminal group.
