Baku-APA. Eight jailed suspects were released on Monday pending trial by the 16th İstanbul High Criminal Court at the request of their lawyers as part of an unprecedented match-fixing investigation that has rocked Turkish football this year, APA reports quoting todayszaman.com webpage.

Beşiktaş Deputy Chairman Serdar Adalı, Beşiktaş protocol and security chief Ahmet Ateş, coach Tayfur Havutçu, İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor (İBB) players İbrahim Akın and İskender Alın, Sivasspor goalkeeper Korcan Çelikay and Diyarbakırspor player Abdurrahman Yakut are the jailed suspects who were released.

Adalı, Havutçu and Ateş were arrested in July as part of the match-fixing probe. However, the suspects have been prohibited from traveling outside of the country.

Beşiktaş officials are suspected of having rigged the match Beşiktaş played against İBB, in which the team won the cup. Beşiktaş beat İBB 4-3 on penalties after their match in the 49th Ziraat Turkish Cup final ended 2-2 at full time and extra time.

Akın reportedly confessed during his testimony that Beşiktaş pledged to offer him a position with their club if he agreed not to score any goals during the Beşiktaş-İBB match. As of the time the eight suspects were released, there are now 23 jailed suspects out of a total of 93 suspects in the investigation, and 14 players stand accused for their alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal.
