The phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump was a good opportunity to convey Russia's position at the highest level regarding what Moscow describes as Kyiv's and Europe's reliance on escalation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the conversation between Putin and Trump was a good opportunity to communicate Russia's position directly to the U.S. leader.
"The American leader is open to listening to the information conveyed to him by Putin. Trump's position is consistent. He is confident that he understands what is happening in Ukraine. Any speculation that Trump changes his views like a 'weather vane' is not true," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
Peskov said that Putin and Trump will continue their contacts in the near future.
