Türkiye has strengthened its leadership role in NATO, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said while answering journalists' questions at a press conference in Ankara, APA's Türkiye bureau reports.
Rutte drew attention to Türkiye's achievements in the defense industry. He said that Türkiye has made rapid progress in this field in recent years and that around 3,000 companies are now producing military equipment and hardware required by NATO forces.
"Today, Türkiye has one of NATO's largest and most professionally trained armed forces. Especially over the past 5–10 years, the country has rapidly developed its defense industry. Türkiye is of great importance to the Alliance. Türkiye's geostrategic position, its leadership within NATO, and its hosting of this summit are clear indicators of this," he noted.
