On July 6, Mikhail Yevdokimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, a strong protest was expressed over the drone attack on a SOCAR filling station in Ukraine's Mykolaiv Oblast on the evening of July 5, and a corresponding diplomatic note was handed to the Russian side.
During the meeting, it was recalled that this was not the first such drone attack. Previously, SOCAR facilities in Ukraine, including a gas distribution compressor station and an oil depot in Odesa, had also been subjected to military strikes and other destructive effects of military operations, resulting in significant material damage and injuries among the company's employees.
It was stated that despite repeated warnings, the continuation of such incidents indicates that the attacks are being carried out deliberately.
During the meeting, attention was drawn to several air strikes that damaged the buildings of Azerbaijan's Embassy in Kyiv and the Honorary Consulate in the city of Kharkiv. It was emphasized that the obligations to ensure the protection of diplomatic and consular premises in accordance with the Vienna Conventions must be strictly observed.
The Russian side was called upon to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all of the aforementioned incidents, provide appropriate explanations regarding the events, and comply with its international obligations to protect civilian facilities and diplomatic missions.
