12 criminal proceedings launched over facts of corruption in Azerbaijani municipalities in the first half of this year

It was said at the board meeting of the Republic Prosecutorâ€™s Office, APA reports. It was underlined that raising the struggle against corruption to the new stage was the top priority for the prosecuting authorities. In accordance with the political will of the head of state, the agencies of the Republic Prosecutorâ€™s Office and all the subordinated prosecutorâ€™s offices, Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutorâ€™s Office gave instructions to strengthen struggle against corruption, prevent such negative cases and eliminate their causes.

A number of measures were taken in connection with the implementation of the decree issued by Azerbaijanâ€™s President on June 22, 2009, on â€œStrengthening struggle against corruption in the management of public and municipal propertyâ€, experts were involved concerning the appeals, decisions were made with their participation, inspections were carried out and 12 criminal proceedings were launched. Instructions were given to the relevant agencies and subordinated prosecutors to strengthen struggle against corruption, take serious control over the inspections and ensure transparency.
