The organizations department of public affairs told APA that 1364 road accidents, occurred in the first half of this year, killed 433 and injured 1465 persons. In comparison with the last year’s corresponding period, the number of road accidents increased to 204 (17.6%), number of killed – to 36 persons (9.1%), injured – to 282 persons (23.8%).

711 road accidents were recorded in Baku during the reporting period, 169 people died and 774 were injured. In comparison with the six months of 2010, the number of road accidents, killed and injured increased to 214 (43.1%), 7 (4.3%) and 313 (67.9%).

92.6% (1265) of road accidents recorded on the republic was caused by the breaking of traffic riles by the drivers, including 44.4% (607) speed enforcement of vehicles, 23.1% (315) – overdrive.

40.3% (550) road accidents was related to pedestrians, 167 pedestrians were killed and 410 injured as a result of it. 37 teenagers and minors were killed and 105 injured as a result of road accidents recorded on the republic. 24 of killed and 64 of injured are pedestrians.
79 road accidents, which killed 13 and injured 96, remained close.
