Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General’s Office publicizes statistics of six months

The complaints are mainly connected with bribery and abuse of power, chief of the Department to Combat Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office Kamran Aliyev said at the meeting on the outcomes of the six months, APA reports. He said criminal cases were launched on 87 facts. The department chief said this figure was 69 a year before. According to him, in general, 159 criminal cases were investigated, 56 criminal cases regarding 98 persons were submitted to court.

Aliyev said facts of bribery and abuse of power was more compared with the previous years. He also publicized the statistics of the complaints to Hotline 161. Kamran Aliyev said more than 2000 complaints concerning corruption were received after the hotline was launched. Department chief said criminal cases were launched on 9 facts basing on 2000 complaints. It was noted that every complaint was investigated, it was found out that some of them were groundless. Kamran Aliyev said most of the complaints were connected with the labor and social protection of population. 270 appeals were connected with Interior Ministry, 198 with the local executive authorities, 128 with municipalities, 99 with education, 53 with energy supply of the population, 48 with customs, 38 with private sector.

Kamran Aliyev said each of the complaints was investigated objectively, anti-corruption measures will be continued.
