Interior Ministry’s press service told APA that the number of the illegal actions through telecommunication network has recently increased.

Such illegal actions aim to appropriate the property of other person and are considered fraud according the legislation. One of the methods of such illegal actions is posting false information on the internet about e-transactions. Advertisements concerning the sale and purchase of expensive cars, various devices, home appliances, mediation in finding job and sending to study abroad are posted on websites mainly by the citizens of foreign states. Citizens become victims of such cyber crimes, believing the internet advertisements concerning purchase and sale of goods, services, they do not check the information, transfer a great amount of money to the bank accounts of the criminals and only after some time they realize that they are swindled and appeal to the government agencies for help.

Interior Ministry warns the citizens not to believe the promising offers of swindlers, take necessary measures before making e-transactions, in line with the law of Azerbaijan Republic on “E-commerce” to check the name, state registration, address of the legal entities offering sale, service, or name, surname, address, contact information (telephone, fax, internet and e-mail) of physical persons, taxpayer’s identification number etc. The citizens must not transfer money in the doubtful cases.
