Businessman Shohrat Guliyev, who is accused in contract murders in Azerbaijan, sentenced to life imprisonment

During the process presided over by Judge Karamat Aliyev, Shohrat Guliyev, Mehman Gahramanov and Anar Hasanov were sentenced to life imprisonment, Ilham Shabanov - 15 years, Sakhavat Khudiyev - 13 years 6 months, Khazar Karimov - 2 years, Maharat Ismayilov - 2 years, Rabit Abdinov - 2 years. The criminal case on Bilal Verdiyev, Elim Shahmuradov, Nuru Atayev was closed.

Note that, the accused persons are charged on Criminal Code’s 120th (Deliberate murder), 217th (Gang), 228th (purchase and storage of illegal guns and ammunitions). According to the indictment, in December, 2003, Shohrat Guliyev together with Mehman Gahramanov set up an armed group consisting of Anar Hasanov, Sakhavat Khudiyev, Ilham Shabanov, Khazar Kazimov and Elmar Gasimov. Shohrat Guliyev ordered the members of the gang to kill Ahmad Ibrahimov in Baku and promised to give $25,000 for this. Anar Hasanov determined the address of Ibrahimov, the time when he returned home and killed Ahmad Ibrahimov outside his house on December 18, 2003. Makarov pistol was found in the garden near the building in Nuriyev, street, 32. It was proved that the bullets were shot from that pistol.
Shohrat Guliyev promised 25 000 USD to contract killers to murder resident of Ganja city Kamal Alakbarov, who regularly extorted money from him. Member of the criminal group Ilham Shabanov shot Alakbarov dead with a Makarov pistol on March 22, 2004. The investigation also determined the other crimes of armed gang.
