. During the discussion of amendments to the law “On fight against human trafficking”, MP from New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Siyavush Novruzov said that if we take into account national and material issues, it needs to approach to this issue a little different: “At present, we are tightening the laws on human trafficking, but the problems will become more serious, because the persons engaged in this will continue their illegal activities. Actually, tightening of laws will lead to corruption. Such women are coming to Baku from Ukraine and Philippines. Tightening of the laws will not solve the problem. Let’s use the international experience in this field. Everyone will say that they are believers and speak about national, moral values.”
First vice-speaker of the parliament Ziyafat Asgarov, who chaired the meeting, asked Siyavush Novruzov whether he had offered legalization of prostitution. Novruzov said legalization will prevent a number of problems.
“European countries have already a solution, we can use their practice,” he said.
