She mentioned 98% of world countries have ratified this Convention: “In connection with the obligations undertaken by the Convention member-countries, trade in chemicals and chemical products transported through the territory of these countries should be under monitoring.” Mina Senior-Faress underlined the importance of customs authorities in the process, as well as the need to strengthen regional cooperation in this regard.
She said that the ongoing trainings in Baku will demonstrate specific examples of customs control over chemicals, which are transported through the territory of their countries, and views will be exchanged on customs data.
The trainings are organized for representatives of customs authority in Eastern Europe and cover the technical aspects of the transfer mode of chemical weapons.
The trainings will end on April 26 and are attended by the representatives of customs authorities from Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Ukraine, Serbia, Moldova, Montenegro, Azerbaijan and other countries.
