Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry instructs Consulate General in Tabriz to investigate arrest of Khalida Khalid

Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that the Ministry instructed Consulate General in Tabriz to investigate the issue: “Our Consulate contacted with Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Office in Tabriz. This issue is on the spotlight and being investigated.”

Scientific worker of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Institute of Literature named after Nizami, researcher and writer Khalida Khalid was arrested in Tabriz.

APA reports quoting “Oyannews” that the employees of the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran (MISIRI) arrested Khalida Khalid at the house of Azerbaijani activist Mahammad (Okhtay) Rasidi’s father late on April 30.

Furthermore, one more Azerbaijani citizen and 4 activists were arrested. The Azerbaijani citizen is Khalid's assistant Shamakh. They gathered at the father's house of Okhtay Rasidi on the occasion of his mother’s birthday and Mother's Day in Iran. But MISIRI employees attacked the house, confiscated the books, computer and a number of personal belongings and taken them to an unknown direction. At present, it is unknown where they are being detained.

The other detained persons are Azerbaijani cultural activist Ashug Isag Garakhanli (writer), Amir Hadiyan (student of Azad University of Tabriz) and Farhadi (writer).
