On May 2, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev visited the Republic of Kenya, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
The first political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Kenya were held in Nairobi. The meeting, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Principal Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, covered the positive dynamics in bilateral political, economic-trade, humanitarian, and inter-parliamentary relations, as well as cooperation in international platforms.
The sides exchanged views on future prospects of relations built over the 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
They expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation in information and communication technologies, digital economy, the promotion of Azerbaijan’s progressive “ASAN Service” model, energy and mineral resources, agriculture, tourism, and education.
They positively assessed the current state of multilateral cooperation, particularly within the UN and Non-Aligned Movement, and discussed ways to expand joint efforts in these formats.
The consultations also included an exchange of views on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev was received by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi. It was emphasized that the first political consultations will contribute significantly to deepening cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Additionally, at the initiative of Kenya’s youth champion and head of the “International Youth Network” Charlene Ruto, a meeting was organized between Deputy Minister Rafiyev and Kenyan youth.
