Valentina Matvienko: â€œThe role of the parliaments is increasing by the development of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan and Russiaâ€

â€œThe purpose of our visit is to discuss the development of relations between the parliamentsâ€, Chairwoman of the Russian Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, told journalists, APA reports.

She expressed satisfaction with the development of Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation in various spheres and directions: â€œThis cooperation has a strategic character and the place of the parliaments in this cooperation is very significant. We work together with Azerbaijan not only on bilateral grounds. We also work within the CIS Parliamentary Assembly, where Azerbaijani Parliament plays a very important role, as well as work at the level of various inter-parliamentary organizations and coordinate our positions. I want to note that the role of the parliaments is increasing by the development of democratic institutions in both countries. We must work effectively for ensuring fundamental principles of legislation of bilateral cooperation in various spheres between the countriesâ€.
