An armed man opened fire at police officers near a supermarket in the German city of Dresden, DPA reports.
The incident occurred in the city's Friedrichstadt district.
Police officers responding to calls from witnesses detained a 41-year-old Turkish citizen in front of the supermarket.
According to reports, the suspect opened fire on the officers with a firearm during the arrest. No police officers or civilians were injured in the incident.
The suspect was wounded by return fire from police officers and was taken to hospital. He is currently under investigation on charges of making threats and violating firearms legislation.
The motive for the incident remains unknown.
