Russian-born American investor Konstantin Sokolov has been appointed head of the TRIPP+ (Trade Route for International Peace and Prosperity Plus) Fund, established with the support of the U.S. Department of State, The Guardian reports.
According to the publication, 50-year-old Sokolov, who lives in Chicago, was born and educated in Russia before moving to the United States. He has worked in the investment sector for more than 20 years.
Konstantin Sokolov is the founder of the Chicago-based investment company IJS Investments. He is also a shareholder in Armenia's telecommunications company Viva, a member of the Northern Pillar Energy consortium, and chairman of the board of directors of Pelagos Data Centres.
According to The Guardian, the U.S. Department of State has confirmed Sokolov's appointment.
It should be noted that the TRIPP+ Fund was established to finance private sector projects in transport, energy infrastructure, digital technologies, and critical minerals across the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The fund will operate in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan through loans, grants, and investment instruments.
