U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon and Syria could help stabilize the situation in the region, Trump told in an interview with Fox News, APA reports.
"I think it would be good to get out of southern Lebanon and parts of southern Syria. Then you may see the situation calm down a little. Because we need to focus our energy on the bigger issue – Iran," the U.S. President said.
Trump also said that Syria's transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa wanted to conduct an operation against Hezbollah.
"Ahmad al-Sharaa would like to carry out an operation against Hezbollah, and he would do it differently. He wouldn't destroy buildings. I hate seeing buildings destroyed. I think he would do it more precisely," Trump stressed.
Responding to the Fox News host's question, "Does he need a green light from you to do that?", Trump replied: "I'm thinking about it."
