A commemoration event marking Türkiye's July 15 – Democracy and National Unity Day was held in Baku, APA reports.
The event was attended by Türkiye's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgun, embassy staff, members of the Milli Majlis and other officials.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Birol Akgun said that Türkiye, united as a state and nation, will continue its fight against the FETÖ terrorist organization, which attempted the coup on July 15.
“Recent revelations from within the organization have once again clearly exposed the true face of this dark, cult-like structure. FETÖ is a dangerous organization that operates not only through propaganda, but also through secret plans, deception and espionage. It should not be forgotten that this structure's only target is not Türkiye,” he said.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for standing by the Turkish state and nation from the very first moment.
A video message by Burhaneddin Duran, Head of Communications at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, was then screened.
“Today, we have erased FETÖ's traces from our state and our country. Today, FETÖ members whose extradition Türkiye seeks at the international level are living in various countries and, in some cases, receiving support,” Burhaneddin Duran said in his video message.
