Valentina Matvienko: â€œWe hope the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia will pass USD 3 bln in 2012â€

According to the outcomes of the last year, we achieved the largest volume of trade turnover in recent years. This figure is USD 2 bln 800 mln. The rate of trade turnover growth can be considered positive this year too. We hope that the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia will pass USD 3 bln in 2012â€, Chairwoman of the Russian Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, told journalists, APA reports.

She said that Russia and Azerbaijan developed cooperation in the cultural sphere as well: â€œThe International Humanitarian Forum, which was held for the first time last year under patronage of our presidents, will turn into tradition. We will hold such forums every year because such events offer an opportunity to deepen our relations and cooperation. Today I will visit Baku Slavic University. I would like to note that cooperation in the field of education develops rapidly. One of the main issues of both countries is to change the education into innovative development and scientific technologies. The universities play an important role in this field. Baku branch of Moscow State University is very popular. Many Azerbaijani students are studying in the Russian higher education institutions. It is a live and real bridge between our countries, because youth will continue the works carried out by the leadership of both countries. Thatâ€™s why it is necessary to develop the relationsâ€.
