Azerbaijan FM meets counterpart from Finland

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs minister Elmar Mammadyarov met FM of Finland Erkki Tuomioja. At the end of the meeting between the ministers, E. Tuomia and E. Mammadyarov held joint press conference. Elmar Mammadyarov noted that they discussed bilateral and regional issues as well as situation in Syria and Iran.

Azerbaijani FM noted that relations between two states are in the high level. The minister stressing continuous development of economic cooperation said that they wish to extend this cooperation.

Inviting Finnish businessmen to Azerbaijan E. Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan supports other Finnish companies to open offices in Azerbaijan alongside “Nokia” and “TeleSonera”

In his turn, Finnish FM noted that it is his third visit to Azerbaijan. Mentioning that his last visit to Azerbaijan was in 2006, Finnish minister said during this period Azerbaijan achieved huge development and changed much.

Foreign Minister of Finland also congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart for winning a non-permanent seat at UN Security Council and winning “Eurovision” song contest.

Erkki Tuomioja expressed his country’s wish to be represented as a non-permanent member of UN Security Council. He also said that Finland supports Azerbaijan’s election to this position.

E. Tuomia stated that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Finland can be much more productive in the frame of bilateral relations and European Union.
“We support expansion of the cooperation”, said Finnish FM.
