Russia announces itinerary of Lavrovâ€™s visit to Azerbaijan

Baku. Anakhanum Hidoyatova â€“ APA. Russian foreign ministry announced the itinerary of Minister Sergei Lavrovâ€™s visit to Azerbaijan. Lavrov will be received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, meet Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Speaker of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, APA reports quoting the Russian foreign ministryâ€™s website.

The foreign ministers will highlight wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues, exchange views on Azerbaijan-Russia economic cooperation and focus attention on regional and border cooperation, humanitarian aspects of the relations, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and legal status of the Caspian Sea. Lavrov and Mammadyarov will assess the work for elaboration of the Convention on Legal Status of the Caspian Sea and proposals for creating good environment for the economic cooperation between the littoral states. The comprehensive opportunities for mutual activities in the regional and international organizations, as well as the issues concerning Azerbaijanâ€™s election to the UN Security Council will also be on agenda during the talks.

The Russian foreign ministry said that Moscow considered Azerbaijan as a strategic partner in the South Caucasus and Caspian regions. â€œWe are developing relationship with Azerbaijan on the basis of equal rights, peaceful neighborhood policy and respect the interests of each other. The high-level regular contacts give necessary dynamics to the comprehensive and mutual cooperationâ€.
