Azerbaijani President addresses Seoul Nuclear Security Summit - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku â€“ APA. The 2012 Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, has continued its work on March 27. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the summit, APA reports.

Today nuclear security is an important issue for the world, including Azerbaijan, said Azerbaijani president and added that Azerbaijan respects the international decisions on nuclear security, fulfills these decisions, supports and will support the international efforts toward this. Touching upon the issue of nuclear security in the region, President Aliyev said that the nuclear power station in Armenia built in 1976 became out of date and doesnâ€™t meet modern standards and is situated in the seismic zone.

President expressed confidence in effective results of the discussions of the worldâ€™s nuclear security challenges.

It was underlined that the heads of state and government of more than 50 countries have come together in Seoul with the view of taking more serious steps and undertaking new commitments to prevent nuclear terrorism threat, it raises hopes for new, more real steps and as a result of it the world population will feel safe from nuclear terrorism.

The issues on preventing terror threats in the atomic power facilities, minimizing the use of enriched uranium and plutonium were discussed at the meeting. Much attention was paid to the prevention of the use of nuclear energy and radioactive materials for non-peaceful purposes.

The leaders were photographed at the end of the meeting. Working dinner was given in honor of the heads of state and government. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev participated in the dinner.

The second closed plenary meeting of the summit was held in the second half of the day. The final communiquÃ© was adopted, it was decided to hold the next nuclear security summit in the Netherlands in 2014.
