German Foreign Minister: Azerbaijan is an important political and economic partner for German

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the effective and close diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany. Azerbaijan is developing very successfully. This development has great potential", - the minister said.

He stressed that Azerbaijan is important for Germany as a transit country.

Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the German Foreign Minister said that the conflict should be solved only through peace: "We must use all means to resolve this conflict. Resolving this conflict is important for the whole region".

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said that he discussed at a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov condition in Syria, Iran’s nuclear program and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "We do not want Iran to use nuclear energy as a weapon", - German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said.
