Declaration signed at Nakhchivan meeting of Azerbaijani, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers

Nakhcivan. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The meeting of Azerbaijani, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers has ended in Nakhchivan. APA reports that Nakhchivan declaration was signed at the end of the meeting.

The declaration says that the ministers support further discussions on important regional and international issues.
“We welcome Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.”

The document says that the sides underline the importance of solving the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the sovereignty, territorial integrity and norms of the international law.

According to the document, the ministers agree to hold the meeting of the subcommittee on trade, industry and investment in Turkey in May, the meeting of the subcommittee on transport in Azerbaijan in June, the meeting of the subcommittee on energy in Iran in September, the meeting of the subcommittee on tourism and culture in Iran in October. The date of the meetings will be fixed a month before the meetings.

The sides declared that there is potential to link Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway to Nakhchivan-Julfa-Tabriz railway.

The sides will consider the visa facilitation.

The next meeting of the ministers will be held in Van in September, 2012.

The declaration was signed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
