Azerbaijani Ambassador to Singapore submits credentials to this countryâ€™s president

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. On February 23, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Indonesia and Singapore Tamerlan Garayev submit credentials signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on his appointment to the post of ambassador to Singapore to President of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam, Azerbaijani embassy in Indonesia told APA.

The one-on-one meeting with President of Singapore followed the ceremony of submitting the credentials. Garayev said that Azerbaijan attached special importance to development of both bilateral and comprehensive relations between Azerbaijan and Singapore. The ambassador underlined the significance of the development of mutual beneficial cooperation within UN and other international organizations.

Then the ambassador spoke about Nagorno Karabakh conflict and said that 20% of Azerbaijani territories were occupied by Armenia and one million people became displaced persons as a result of the conflict. Garayev informed the President of Singapore about the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide and commemorating the victims of the genocide in Azerbaijan and other countries. President Tony Tan Keng Yam noted the importance of bringing the perpetrators of such crimes to the responsibility and offered condolences to Azerbaijani people.

It was noted that Azerbaijani side was interested in carrying out investment projects together with Singapore. Garayev also noted that it was important to carry out mutual visits for the development of bilateral relations and the establishing legal basis between the countries.

Singaporeâ€™s President agreed with it and also underlined that the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Singapore is always welcomed in this country. Tony Tan Keng Yam promised that he would give a task to the corresponding ministries for the establishment of legal basis and the projects would be presented to Azerbaijan in a short time.
